Commitment to community is the cornerstone of the Raffles Difference. In 1997, the company initiated REACH (Rendering Encouragement, Assistance, Care and Hope), a community programme that offers pillars of support to underprivileged children, the arts and the environment in all destinations Raffles Hotels & Resorts operates in.
Since 1992, the annual Raffles Christmas Tree Auction & Gala Dinner held at Raffles Hotel Singapore has raised more than SGD$280,000 each year, benefiting several charities in Singapore. Over the past 15 years, more than SGD$3,000,000 has been raised from this annual event benefiting numerous charities in Singapore.
Raffles’ commitment to preserving the environment was evident in its restoration of the 60,000 sqm Royal Crusade of Independence Gardens in Siem Reap, Cambodia. In recognition of their continuous efforts to enhance the infrastructure and environment, Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor and Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Cambodia have both received the “British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Highly Commended Award” in 2000 for extraordinary environmental and cultural sensitivity in its approach to tourism.
Raffles continues to enhance and protect the environment in which it operates through initiatives such as the annual clean up of the Siem Reap River in Cambodia which bands together staff members from Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, local businessmen and students to remove debris from the river, the annual Canouan Island beach cleanup campaign and the "adopt-a-turtle" programme by Raffles Canouan.
