Raffles Hotels & Resorts was formed in 1989 to restore, redevelop and manage the world-famous Raffles Hotel, Singapore. In 1996, the Raffles brand was expanded beyond Raffles Hotel, Singapore, and since then, the group has distinguished itself by being a leader in terms of quality and in consistently delivering the Raffles promise to provide the best. Raffles’ relentless pursuit of service excellence has earned for its hotels and resorts a legion of international accolades, including Condé Nast World’s Best Places to Stay and Travel & Leisure World’s Best Awards. Its flagship Raffles Hotel, Singapore was voted Best Hotel in Asia in 2007 and 2008 by readers of Ultratravel magazine (published by The Daily Telegraph) while Raffles Beijing Hotel was named Best Luxury Hotel in Beijing at the 2008 Travel Trade Gazette China Travel Awards. Raffles Dubai, the latest addition to Raffles’ portfolio, is recognised among the world’s best new hotels by Condé Nast Traveler’s 2008 Hot List, and was named Best New Hotel Development in the Middle East at the 2008 Arabian Hotel Investment Conference. Raffles Hotels & Resorts is owned by Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, a leading global hotel company with 91 hotels and resorts worldwide under the Raffles, Fairmont and Swissôtel brands. The Traveller's Palm
The culture of service excellence is embodied in our logo - the Traveller's Palm. The fine detailed drawing of the Traveller's Palm is the work of top British penmaster, David Horridge.

 

A native of Madagascar, it was introduced to Singapore in the early 1900s and became a favourite in landscaped gardens island-wide, including Raffles Hotel. The leaves of the Traveller's Palm are known to come to rest in an 'east-west' direction and thus have served as an informal compass for travellers making their way home after long journeys. Residents of Raffles hotels and resorts are greeted by our staff, who each wears a Traveller's Palm-design pin. It is an indication to our residents that they have found their way home.
