The Resounding Success of Raffles Hotel 14th Annual Wine, Food & Arts Experience

Raffles Hotel’s Fourteen Annual Raffles Hotel Wine, Food and Arts Experience (WFAE), that took place from 18 to 22 February 2009, was a resounding success.  Guests offered positive and favourable commentaries whilst key events were fully committed prior to the start of WFAE. 

The week-long gastronomic spectacle culminated with Brunch With The Stars, a highly anticipated tradition at each annual WFAE where each chef presents an egg dish.  Guests in attendance were delighted with the bright airy milieu of the lobby and brunched well into the afternoon.   

Throughout the week, food connoisseurs and enthusiasts interacted candidly with Michelin Star-studded chefs, internationally renowned vintners and leading personalities in the food and wine scene at the lunches, dinners, culinary demonstrations and wine tastings. 

The gastronomy and wine maestros who delighted patrons were Three Michelin-star chefs Bruno Ménard from Restaurant L’osier, Japan; Maria Luisa Valazza from Al Sorisso, Italy; Espoir Three Michelin Stars – Philippe Labbé from Rest La Chèvre d'Or, France; and Two Michelin Stars Chefs – Didier Elena from Château Les Crayeres, France, and Raffles Grill Chef de Cuisine Denis Groison, with eminent wineries, champagne houses and distillery from world-renowned wine producing regions include Bordeaux, France – Château Figeac, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande and Château Haut Brion; Burgundy, France – Domaine Ponsot; Veneto, Italy – Allegrini; Reims, France – Champagne Krug and Veuve Clicquot; and Rech, Germany – Jean Stodden.

World-renowned wine expert, Sylvain Ouchikh from France, also lent his expertise as the esteemed moderator of the wines throughout the week whilst the ever-vivacious Jimmy McKissic created the most enchanting atmosphere with his illuminating performances on the ivories and vocals throughout the week.

Since 1991 when Raffles Hotel reopened its doors after extensive refurbishment, it has been committed to bringing the finest chefs and vintners from around the world to participate in gastronomic events throughout the year. The highlight of its calendar is the Annual Raffles Hotel Wine & Food Experience, which sees the gathering of internationally acclaimed chefs, vintners and special guests from around the world, all at one event!
