Little India

Take a trip to the bustling ethnic quarter of Little India. Not to miss is a visit to the wet markets and Mustafa Centre, Singapore's only 24-hour shopping mall where you can find almost anything at a bargain. Do not leave Little India without a temporary Henna tattoo or try “Teh Tarik”, a hand pulled cup of tea.

Chinatown

 

Explore the traditional five-foot ways and old shop houses along Pagoda Street. Visit temples, medical halls and tea houses and learn about the age-old traditions of the past. Not to miss is a visit to the tea house to experience and learn more about the traditional art of tea-brewing. After walking, get a your foot massaged at one of many reflexology centers located in Chinatown. The Chinatown Heritage Centre, recreated based on the recollections of former residents, as are the exhibits and displays, giving visitors an authentic and personal account of life in Chinatown. Guided tours of the Gallery are conducted on the hour. Meanwhile, have a cuppa at the Centre’s Kopi Tiam or select a memento at the retail shop from a range of unique traditional souvenirs such as hand-sewn Chinese quilted blankets, traditional miniature sewing machines and clogs.

Geylang Serai

 

Geylang Serai is the cultural heart of the Malay community in Singapore. Go back in time and discover the traditional 'Kampung Days' lifestyle of Malays in the 1950s and 1960s! Or experience traditional Malay arts and crafts like batik painting, kite-making and kampung games such as top spinning.

 

Arab Street

 

Famed for its silk and basketry, and resonating with tradition, Arab Street is one of the highlights of Kampong Glam. Cane, straw, rattan and a spectrum of fabrics comprising silk, chiffon, cotton and batik can be found on Arab Street. One of the most significant buildings in the district is the Sultan Mosque, which was built in 1824.

 

After a day of sightseeing, chill out and sip the Singapore Sling at Long Bar while a live band plays on.
