Writers Bar
The Writers Bar honors the many Chinese and foreign literary luminaries who have been in residence at the hotel, visited or written about it over the years. The original timber sprung dance floor, pristine once more, evokes the frequent events when the hotel first served as an important venue between Chinese and foreign politicians, including Chairman Mao, and Zhou Enlai.
The Writers Bar, the long-established rendezvous for both social and business gatherings offers informal all-day dining in a classic Grand Hotel atmosphere. The cuisine may be described as “sophisticated comfort food”; all-time favorites such as sandwiches, pasta, salads as well as steak tartar, a jumbo hot dog and classic New York cheese cake, which are considered by locals as the best in town. And Raffles famed Afternoon Tea is also served here.
