A race course, cattle herders and brick kilns – these and many more jostled alongside each other in the Little India of yesterday. Today though, the ethnic enclave is a world apart from its previous incarnate. Charming shophouses line the streets, crammed with shops selling spices, sarees, trinkets, Indian jewellery and daily products used by the average Indian household.
While there, be sure to try the food on offer. Vegetarian restaurants serve South Indian fare, while North Indian cuisine is lifted out from the tandoor ovens. Another must-visit is the 24h shopping mall, Mustafa Centre, which stocks everything from groceries to electronics and textiles.
