Colour Of The Day
Offer IncludesRaffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor first opened its doors in 1932 and the legend lives on today. The hotel is rich in Cambodia history and packed with original treasures, including the timber elevator. Our doormen still welcome guests in a uniform inspired by the Royal Palace’s observance of the days of the week. An ancient poem explains the reason for the colours for the days:
“Red is for Sunday.
Orange truly looks like a beautiful moon.
Purple is reserved for Tuesday.
Wednesday is the green of the Lieb plant.
Thursday is the yellowish green of the leaves of the banana palm.
Happy Friday is blue and must be tidy.
Saturday is the colour of the ripe pring (a type of plum).”
