Asian Civilisations Museum
Containing more than 1,300 artefacts, the Asian Civilisations Museum showcases the material cultures of Singapore’s forefathers that hailed from China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and West Asia. Highlights include the restored, hourglass-shaped Pejeng-style drum, made from bronze, and the Standing Buddha sculpture, unearthed by British archaeologist Quaritch Wales in the Bujang Valley, Kedah, Malaysia in 1941.
The pieces are spread across 11 galleries, spanning three floors, with their histories told through multimedia and interactive components. Housed in a heritage building that dates back to colonial Singapore, the Asian Civilisations Museum is one of the most popular attractions, and also regularly holds special exhibitions.
