Endemische Palmen
Zahlreiche einheimische Pflanzenarten wurden auf dem gesamten Gelände des Resorts gepflanzt, um die natürliche Schönheit wiederherzustellen, welche die Flammen 11 Jahre zuvor zerstörten. Diese Brände führten zu Entwaldung, Landerosion und Küstenschäden. Seitdem haben wir damit begonnen, so viele Bäume wie möglich auf dem Gelände zu pflanzen, und zusammen mit der Hilfe von TRASS (Terrestrial Restoration Action Society Seychelles) hat unser Team über 200 endemische Pflanzen und über 1.000 Mangroven gepflanzt.
Korallenrehabilitation
Wir haben mit Nature Seychelles zusammengearbeitet, um ein Korallenrehabilitationsprojekt am Strand des Resorts zu starten. Dazu gehörten der Bau von Korallengärten und einer Schnorchelroute für Gäste. Auch Gäste sind zum Korallenpflanzen eingeladen, um Teil der Restaurierung zu sein. Dieses Projekt erweitert sich auf rund 200 künstliche Riffrahmen, um das Leben in den Riffen der Region zu fördern. Unser Team vor Ort führt Bewertungen durch und überwacht den Erfolg der Riffe.
Abschied von Einwegplastik
Im Jahr 2019 hat sich unser Resort dazu entschlossen, die Verwendung von Einwegplastik auf der Insel zu reduzieren und schließlich ganz zu stoppen. Heute gibt es kein Einwegplastik mehr vor Ort und wir sind nun stolze Sponsoren des Aldabra Clean-Up Project. Weltweit werden jedes Jahr über 50 Milliarden Wasserflaschen aus Plastik verwendet, bis zu 8,3 Milliarden Plastikstrohhalme sind an den Stränden der Welt verteilt und auf See schwimmen mehr als 270.000 Tonnen Plastik. Unsere Villen bieten kunststofffreie Ausstattungen und unsere hoteleigene Boutique verkauft Artikel aus recyceltem Kunststoff. Wir setzen uns leidenschaftlich für Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit ein und nehmen bei unserer gesamten Geschäftstätigkeit eine umweltbewusste Haltung ein, einschließlich der Bereitstellung von Möglichkeiten, wie Gäste ihren CO2-Fußabdruck während ihres Aufenthalts reduzieren können, und der Beendigung der Verwendung von Plastikstrohhalmen und anderen nicht biologisch abbaubaren Materialien.
Verabschieden Sie sich von Plastikflaschen
Das Raffles Seychelles Wasseraufbereitungsprojekt führte die Abfüllung in Glasflaschen auf dem Gelände ein. Diese Änderung wirkte sich positiv auf den Energieverbrauch aus und führte zu einer erheblichen Verringerung des Plastikmülls. Die fünfstufige Filtration hat es dem Hotel ermöglicht, alternative Wasserressourcen zu nutzen. Das Wasser stammt aus einem Berg vor Ort und wird im Resort abgefüllt. Es bietet eine nachhaltige Lösung für unser unberührtes Refugium, für Gäste und für diejenigen, die in der Umgebung des Archipels leben. Bisher hat der Abfüllplan die Verwendung von über 260.000 Plastikflaschen mit einem Gewicht von mehr als 130.000 kg verhindert.
Vom Hof auf den Tisch
Der frische Fang aus Fisch und Meeresfrüchten, der in unseren Restaurants serviert wird, wird immer von lokalen Fischern gekauft. 98 Prozent des Fischs (die einzige Ausnahme ist Lachs) sowie Obst und Gemüse werden von regionalen Bauern bezogen. Die Insel verfügt über ein begrenztes Angebot an vielen Grundzutaten, die wir importieren müssen. Wir fördern jedoch einen gesunden Lebensstil, indem wir unsere Lebensmittel nach Möglichkeit von lokalen Lieferanten beziehen und regionale Produkte in den vielen Wellness-Gerichten auf unseren Restaurantmenüs fördern.

Snorkelling the vibrant waters off the beach, you'll witness the remarkable coral rehabilitation initiative we've spearheaded in partnership with Nature Seychelles. This included the construction of coral nurseries and a guest snorkelling trail. You can join our staff and the marine experts from the NGO in maintaining the coral nurseries and even participate in planting new coral fragments, playing a vital role in restoring the health of these delicate ecosystems. The project is expanding to more than 200 artificial reef frames in 2024 to promote reef life in the area. Water scarcity is a global challenge, and at Raffles Seychelles, we’re committed to sustainable solutions. Our Water Purification Project not only minimizes plastic waste but also preserves the island’s limited resources. By introducing a five-stage filtration system and glass bottling on-site, we’ve reduced our dependency on external water sources and prevented the use of over 260,000 plastic bottles, saving more than 130,000 kg of plastic. Drawing pure mountain water from our own land, this initiative enables us to provide a refreshing, eco-friendly experience for our guests, all while safeguarding Seychelles' pristine natural beauty.
In 2019, our resort took a stand to reduce and then stop the use of disposable plastics on the island. Today, there is almost zero single-use plastic on-site. Each year, more than 50 billion plastic water bottles are used across the globe, up to 8.3 billion plastic straws are scattered around the world’s beaches, and there are more than 270,000 tons of plastic floating at sea. In 2022, we proudly sponsored the Aldabra Clean-Up Project in 2022, which collected 25,000 tonnes of plastic on the island’s beaches.
