Day One

Morning

Discover Museum Pasifika

About 25 minutes’ drive from Raffles Bali, Museum Pasifika is the first museum of its kind in this part of the world, proudly housing more than 600 artworks by 200 artists from 25 nations. Artists include Walter Spies (Germany), Miguel Covarrubias (Mexico), Raden Saleh (Indonesia), Affandi (Indonesia), Hendra Gunawan (Indonesia), Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur (Belgium), Paul Gauguin (France), and Auguste Rodin (France). The museum was designed by leading Balinese architect Popo Danes in 2006, and today holds regular exhibitions, as well as carrying out restoration projects on damaged artworks. Take your time – there’s a café overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden where you can recharge your batteries.

Afternoon

Traditional Balinese Entrance

Visit an authentic Balinese house

This is a unique opportunity to find out about Asta Kosala Kosali, the Balinese architecture system that governs layout, orientation and proportions of houses and places of worship, based on spiritual, cultural and cosmological principles of Balinese Hinduism (similar to Feng Shui). During your visit to a local house you will learn about the natural materials used in the building’s construction – such as wood, stone and bamboo, all from sustainable sources –  as well as seeing how Balinese rooms are arranged according to Asta Kosala Kosali. Visitors will also be shown how to create canang sari (small Balinese offerings), as well as sampling a special local dessert and a traditional Indonesian herbal drink called Jamu.

Evening

Savour a degustation dinner at Rumari

Presided over by leading chef Gaetan Biesuz, Rumari – which means the house of the sun and full moon – is a memorable dining experience, set at the highest point of the resort. The restaurant is an ambassador for the House of Krug, the only one in Indonesia to represent the house’s savoir-faire and passionate spirit - while the quality and diversity of its wines has earned it a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. A seven- or nine-course tasting journey features authentic bold flavours and sumptuous dishes drawing inspiration from across the region.

DAY TWO

Morning

Botanical tour of the resort

Raffles Bali covers some 23 hectares, only 40% of which has been built upon. The rest is a sanctuary for native flora and home to more than 100 plant species. The tour, which takes a couple of hours (a hat is advisable), will guide you through enchanting landscapes and serene spaces peppered with African tulip trees, Balinese frangipani, heliconia, orange jasmine and red cotton ginger; banana trees, Java plum and passion fruit; lemongrass, Kefir lime and lemon basil; and much, much more. Look out for remarkable fauna too, such as the vibrant blue kingfisher and oriental magpie-robin.

Afternoon

DO NOT USE Raffles Bali

Helicopter tour of Bali

Enjoy bird’s-eye views of the island with a private helicopter tour which will pick you up from the resort grounds and take you anywhere you want to go. The options are endless: soar above Bali’s vast, UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih rice paddies covering their mountain terraces; or swoop over the island’s two active volcanoes, Mount Agung and Mount Batur, or the nearby Uluwatu Temple, a centuries-old sea temple perched high on a rugged cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. Alternatively, you could land at Klungkung and watch artisans demonstrate the intricate craft of tenun handweaving or perhaps play a round of golf on a course located within the crater of a dormant volcano.

Evening

Dine on Jimbaran Beach

Raffles Bali

Bali’s legendary Jimbaran Beach is just four minutes’ drive or 15 minutes’ walk from the resort. Known for its picture postcard white sand and magnificent sunsets, this beach also offers some of the best seafood restaurants in Bali. Choose a table on the beach or sit on an open-fronted terrace and dive right in. Seafood – including the freshest lobster, crab, clams and prawns – is grilled over coconut shells rather than charcoal which gives it a distinctive flavour. If you’re looking for something spicy try sambal matah – a traditional Balinese dish incorporating raw chilli and shallot relish.

DAY THREE

Morning

Chakra Stones on a Towel

Relax with a wellness treatment

Our spa draws on traditional Balinese and Southeast Asian healing practices, the cornerstone of which is traditional holistic Balinese massage. The primary focus of this is to optimise energy flow and relaxation using gentle stretches, acupressure, reflexology and aromatherapy. It’s also excellent for relieving sore muscles and joint pain. Or try reiki or chakra balancing, with specialised techniques that focus on opening these energy centres that play a vital role in emotional processing, physical wellbeing and resistance to disease. The Sanctuary treatment area offers views of lush greenery and the serene Jimbaran Bay, but if you prefer to keep things low key, your butler can organise spa treatments in the privacy of your villa. Additional wellness facilities at the resort include a fitness centre and tennis and pickleball courts.

Afternoon

Raffles Bali

Garuda Wisnu Kencana

No trip to Bali is complete without witnessing this amazing statue, at 121 metres one of the tallest statues in the world and 28 metres taller than the Statue of Liberty. Designed by Balinese sculptor Nyoman Nuarta, the statue took 28 years to conceptualise and was finally completed in 2018. It depicts Lord Wisnu (Vishnu), one of the three main gods in Balinese Hinduism, riding the mythical bird of Garuda, symbolising protection, courage and national identity. There are daily cultural performances from 10.00 am to 6.30 pm, plus Garuda Sineloka Mini Cinema, which shows animated films about Indonesian folklore and mythology. The observation deck is also worth a visit for the stunning view of the Southern Bali coastline.
