The Basilica Cistern, located in the Eminönü district of Istanbul next to the Hagia Sophia, was built to provide water for the city of Istanbul during the reign of Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century CE. This cistern is an underground chamber of 138 x 64.6 meters, broken up by 336 marble columns.

Dolmabahce Palace has a special place in the hearts of Turkish people as Atatürk passed away in this palace on the 10th of November 1938 at 9:05 am. All the clocks in the palace were stopped then and after so many decades, they are still showing 09.05.
