The essence of Paris
A certain "Je ne sais quoi"

1928
Founded by Pierre Bermond and André Junot, Le Royal Monceau opened its doors on August 1st 1928 and was marked since its beginnings by the unique spirit of Paris in the 1930s, when artists came from around the world to share, create and relish in the city’s cultural awakenings. Prestigious guests came, returned and met up: Joséphine Baker, Walt Disney, the Maharajahs of Indore and Kashmir, King Farouk of Egypt, the Aga Khan... In May 1948, David Ben Gourion and Golda Meir signed the birth certificate of the State of Israel on its premises.

2008
Over the years, while remaining a rendez-vous for Parisians and a select address for world travellers, Le Royal Monceau started to slumber. In 2008, the hotel closed down for two years of intense renovation work. A mythical Demolition Party, organized to celebrate the beginning of construction work, was the quintessentially post-modern soirée: guests were handed workmen’s suits, mallets and hard hats then let loose toward the transformation of this legendary Palace hotel.

2010
The new "Le Royal Monceau - Raffles Paris" reopened in October 2010 as a new generation Palace after a dramatic and complete two-year transformation by designer Philippe Starck. Entirely dedicated to Art, Le Royal Monceau - Raffles Paris develops an elaborate cultural policy offering a range of artistic options including an art gallery, an arty concept store, a modern private cinema and a private collection of over 300 works of art as well as a cultural service run by an Art Concierge. An oasis of art in the heart of the City of Lights!

2016
In march 2016, world renowned Chef, Nobu Matsuhisa, chose Le Royal Monceau - Raffles Paris to open its first restaurant in France. And it was worth the wait! Under the expert eye of chef Hideki Endo and his team of sushi masters, Matsuhisa Paris brings a highly contemporary vision of Japanese cuisine: a gastronomic encounter between Asia, Latin America and France. Three cultures for which Nobu himself has great fondness. A wonderful dining experience in a city-centre venue that attracts the hippest crowd!
