RAFFLES GRAND HOTEL D ANGKOR

CAMBODIA'S artistic LEGACY

Discover Cambodia’s talented artists within the walls of our grand historic mansion. A collection of artworks by Raffles’ resident artists, DinArt, showcasing the best of Khmer creativity through Art Curator, Nat Di Maggio of Tribe Art Gallery.

Enjoy the art exhibtion at every turn or through a private guided tour by the Raffles’ resident artist. Please contact the reception if you wish to make any arrangements.

DinArt presents an art exhibition that delves into the subtle yet profound symbolism of the Khmer court. This collection draws its initial inspiration from the iconic uniforms of the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor’s doormen, translating that sense of formal prestige back into a distinctly Cambodian context.

RAFFLES GRAND HOTEL D ANGKOR

Inspired BY KHMER Royalty
THE DAILY Palette OF
THE Raffles ROYAL Doorman

The central concept revives the historical tradition of Khmer Royalty, specifically focusing on the Royal Guards’ pantaloons (châng kben). Historically, the color of a king’s attire would change to correspond with the day of the week—a vibrant, visual reminder of the calendar and its spiritual significance.

DinArt channels this color symbolism into a magnificent collection of Apsara figures. Each piece captures a graceful Apsara dancer adorned in the specific colors and motifs representing one of the seven days of the week, transforming a mundane cycle of time into a vibrant, divine, and historically resonant rhapsody of color and form.

The Royal Ballet of Cambodia (known as Robam Kbach Boran) is more than just classical Khmer dance; it is a living tapestry of myth and grace. This ethereal art form is instantly recognizable by its dancers’ intricate, whispering hand movements and the resplendent, jewel-encrusted costumes that transform them into celestial beings. was formally recognized when it was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists in 2003.
