London's most historic address

The Houses of Parliament (also called Palace of Westminster) continues to be the seat of Parliament with its iconic silhouette being recognised internationally with the sound of Big Ben being broadcast regularly. The history of the building spans over 900 years from the Anglo-Saxons to the present day and remains open to the public for behind-the-scenes tours in addition to a seasonal programme of talks and events.

Horse Guards is the historic building between Whitehall and Horse Guards Parade. It was built in the mid-18th century as a barracks and stables for the Household Cavalry. It was originally formed as the entrance to the Palace of Whitehall and later St James's Palace; for that reason, it is still ceremonially defended by the King's Life Guard. The King’s Life Guard change takes place at 11am daily and 10am on Sundays. The Household Cavalry Museum next door celebrates the history and accomplishments of The Household Cavalry and offers a unique 'behind the scenes' look at the work that goes into the ceremonial and armoured role of HM The King's Mounted Bodyguard. A visit to London in June, would see the famous Trooping the Colour parade take place on Horse Guards Parade, to mark the monarch’s official birthday on the second Saturday of the month.

These are the secret underground headquarters where Prime Minister Winston Churchill lived and worked during WWII. The labyrinth of rooms is set in a secret wartime bunker situated beneath street level in London's Westminster district - only a few minutes walk from Raffles London. The Cabinet War Rooms were constructed shortly before the outbreak of WWII and little has changed within them since the end of the war in 1945.

Formerly known as the Millennium wheel, the iconic London Eye, adorning London’s skyline, was designed by David Marks and Julia Barfield in 1993. Construction began in 1998 and ceremonially opened by the Prime Minister on 31st December 1999. The first passengers took flight on 9th March 2000 and plans to originally dismantle the structure after five years, were quickly scrapped due to the landmark’s popularity. Over three million visitors annually enjoy unparalleled views of the capital city.
