Raffles Seychelles - Praslin

SUSTAINABILITY

PRESERVING PARADISE, together

Our commitment to protecting biodiversity, supporting local communities and creating a more considered future for Praslin.

Raffles Seychelles - Praslin

Protecting paradise for generations to come

Set on Praslin Island, Raffles Seychelles is committed to protecting the natural beauty and biodiversity of one of the world’s most remarkable tropical destinations. Sustainability is woven into the way we operate, from reducing our environmental footprint to supporting the ecosystems and communities that shape Seychelles.

Guests are invited to be part of this journey through hands-on conservation activities and educational experiences that encourage a deeper connection with Praslin and the natural wonders of the Seychelles.

Our commitments

Rooted in a deep connection to Seychelles, we are committed to preserving the islands’ cultural and natural heritage while reducing our environmental footprint and strengthening meaningful ties with the local community. This commitment comes to life through our chefs’ thriving garden habitats, which supply fresh ingredients for menus and culinary classes, and through our mixology team, whose waste-conscious cocktails blend creativity with a more mindful approach to luxury.

  • Coral Restoration & Reef Rehabilitation

In partnership with Nature Seychelles, Raffles Seychelles supports coral restoration through nurseries, reef monitoring and guest coral planting. Guests can also discover the project through guided snorkelling and visits to the Assisted Recovery of Corals facility, creating a closer connection to Seychelles’ marine environment.

  • Supporting the Local Economy

Raffles Seychelles supports the local economy through local sourcing, employment and community partnerships. Where possible, food, crafts and supplies are sourced from Seychellois farmers, artisans and producers, while more than half of the resort team comes from the local community. Colleagues also contribute through volunteering and support for schools and community initiatives.

  • Little Explorer Program

In partnership with Gaea Seychelles, the Little Explorer Programme introduces younger guests to nature through playful, educational experiences. Activities may include nature walks, interactive workshops, wildlife photography, arts and crafts, and hands-on gardening or planting, helping children build curiosity and care for the environment.

  • Protecting Nature's Wonders

Protecting the biodiversity of Praslin is central to our sustainability approach. Across the resort, endemic and indigenous plants are being restored, more than 1,000 mangroves have been supported, and rare species such as Coco de Mer and Bwa Pomme are being replanted. Guests can also take part through tree planting and other nature-led experiences.

  • Food Waste Commitments

Our culinary teams work to reduce food waste through thoughtful menu planning, careful use of ingredients and a growing selection of plant-based dishes. The aim is simple: to create memorable dining while using resources more responsibly.

  • Eco Gestures

Small choices can make a meaningful difference. Guests are invited to support our efforts by using air conditioning thoughtfully, sorting waste, conserving water and switching off lights when leaving the villa, helping us reduce energy use and care for the natural environment around us.

  • Mindful Exploration

Each villa offers a private connection to the natural beauty of Praslin, with generous outdoor space and a sense of calm shaped by the island. For those wishing to explore further, our Butler and Concierge teams can curate experiences that celebrate local culture, support the community and reveal a more meaningful side of Seychelles.
