WRITER-IN-RESIDENCE
Writer-in-Residence Programme 2026
Introduced in 2019, the Raffles Writer’s Residency programme celebrates the hotel’s longstanding relationship with literature by inviting contemporary creative voices to develop original works inspired by its history and cultural significance. For its fifth residency, Raffles Singapore welcomes acclaimed Singaporean graphic novelist, author and artist Sean Lam, whose international career spans Asia, Europe and the United States.
Raffles Hotel: The Grand Dame and the Waving Blade
Set in Singapore in 1902, Raffles Hotel: The Grand Dame and the Waving Blade follows three individuals from different worlds whose lives become intertwined at the hotel. Through vivid illustrations and a story of love, sacrifice and belonging, Sean Lam explores human connections across cultures and social boundaries, bringing to life the people and encounters that shaped the Grande Dame’s history.
